The Getúlio Vargas Administrative Center, in Passaré, Fortaleza, was unveiled, bringing-together administrative departments of the Bank which were hitherto spread amongst several buildings and enabled an appropriate environment for holding meetings, seminars, courses and other events promoted by the Bank or by other institutions.
1987
The increase in the Bank’s capital stock, through underwriting of 112 million shares, attests to Banco do Nordeste’s credibility in the market. It was the largest underwriting operation in the whole country that year.
1988
The Federal Constitution incorporates several items relating to regional inequalities, thus resulting in the creation of a Constitutional Fund for Financing in the Northeast (FNE), administered by Banco do Nordeste. Destined for financing the region’s productive sector, with emphasis on the semi-arid, the FNE supports enterprises with a high economic and social merit, representing a new and effective tool for regional development.
The Bank adopted a more assertive stance in the market: releasing the savings account and remunerated account, installed own “open” table and received authorization to issue Bank Deposit Certificates (CDB).
