Abstract

From the late eightiews, the virtual failure of the form of conducing housing policy in Brazil emerged as a focal point of national worry. The present article offers a contribution to a more precise diagnose of this question, by showing the breakdown of housing finance as a result of the evolution of the flow of funds supporting the SFH. The conclusion is that the absence of some kind of mechanism garanting the self-sustaining of the SFH financing-scheme undertakes its viability. In this way, SFH is unable to execute his original attributes.
