This paper examines the endogenous capacity of implementing technological advances in the irrigated fruit production in the Northeast of Brazil. Its case study is the pole of the North of Minas Gerais state. The characteristics of the so-called new paradigm of innovation and the crucial links of the productive chain are taken as the departuring points to assess the irrigants’ behavior with respect to co-operation and also to solve technological and market bottlenecks on their productive structure. It concludes that the activity shows favorable aspects either in terms of the present technological levels or in respect to the endogenous initiatives to by-pass existing difficulties.
