In this paper we present a model described by THIRLWALL (1979) regarding export growth rates and GDP growth rates in an economy; also, we show the main advances in the literature alike the subject. Futhermore, we proceed some statistical tests, based on time series methodology, searching for a long-run relationship between GDP(PIB) and exports in Brazilian Economy. In despite of the conclusion of the THIR[1]LWALL (1979) about the behaviour of these two variables, in the sense that they evolve together in the time, our work shows that doesn’t appear to have long-run or cointegration relation between GDP(PIB) and exports in Brazilian Economy, during the period focused at this work.
