GASTOS COM PESSOAL E AJUSTE FISCAL

Abstract

The article analyses the fiscal performance of the states of Ceará, Maranhão and Piauí, with emphasis in the evolution of wage outlay. It analyses the effect of inflation in the government budget and shows that the stabilization of economy is followed by a worsening of the states fiscal results. That worsening results from the growth in the expenditures above and the growth observed in the revenues. A simmulation exercise is done and indicates the necessity of reduction in the wage outlays.
