Abstract

This work has the objective of discussing aspects of the development of the northeastern economy, in the last years, starting from the theoretical and methodological base of the French School of Regulation (EFR). We made use of this referencial for believing that it can bring important contributions for this area of study, also, for trying to point out questions normally put aside in the traditional handling of the problems in the field of the regional economy: aspects of the political economy and the effect of cohesion and social organization while endogenous elements to the economic development. Our point of start was the concept of peripheral fordism, which, we use to approach the events of the Brazilian economy of all conceptual structure developed by the theoreticians of the EFR. From now on, we analyze how the extravasation of the productive activities in the country, from the second half of the Fifties, period when the model expands in the capitalist countries, becoming hegemonic, bounce on the Northeast Region.
