The objective of this paper is to measure and to analyze the municipal configuration of the received benefits and the federal transfers to the families financing, in the year of 1995, for the Northeast Region, according to the states and classes of municipal population size. It intends to show a portrait of the distribution of received income by families from the federal government among the Northeas-tern municipal districts. The transfers of income for families in this study are the unilateral operations of supply (or rights on) of goods and services done by the entities donors, that increase the families receivers' available income, without any counterpart, in the considered period. Such transfers are: the benefits of INSS; the retirements and pensions of the federal public servers; and social programs expenses (School Snack Program, Milk, Basic Basket and School Kit). Two important considered questions can be placed: (a) how much does the government spend in the states of the Northeast through transfers of income to the families?; and (b) which is the proportion of these transfers in the total of the states and regional income ?
