This paper studies the convergence of regional Brazilian percapita GIP utilizing time series data. Since these series are nonstationary, any relation involving a pair of them will only be not spurious if they cointegrate. For this reason, the paper presents, as an introdution, a preliminary discussion of cointegration and related concepts. After that, the integration properties of the series are determined. Finally, the necessary cointegration relationships are estimated and tested. The results show the existence of a long-run convergence process in per capita GIP of the different Brazilian regions and states
