This paper approaches an important segment of the informal market, and establishes for a typical worker of this segment, similar behavior to a formal sector enterpreneur. Aiming to test the hypothesis that the earning of a typical informal sector entrepeneur is higher than that of a formal market worker, this paper gives an unbiased cut in the earning distribution of these two groups of workers, builds a rigorous theorethical framework, and applies a suitable econometric model. The empirical results show that there is, indeed, an additional earning to the typical informal enterpreneur, relative to the typical formal market worker, for the same personal attributes, which can be viewed as a risk
