NEGOCIAÇÃO COLETIVA E EFETIVIDADE DA BARGANHA SINDICAL: O CASO DOS CANAVIEIROS DO NORDESTE

Abstract

Examines the social and economic effects of the sugar cane workers collective bargain process, specifically on the States of Alagoas, Paraíba, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Norte e Sergipe. Shows that these workers, in spite of their low instruction level, have improved, along the last 20 years, their rare organization and mobilization capacity. From that point they achieved new bargain power that put them in better position on the collective negotiations against the employers. The bargain power of the category is evidenced in their salary level and in the social advantages consolidated along the referred period.
