GREEN FINANCING IN THE NORTHEAST: LEVERS FOR DYNAMISM AND PRODUCTIVE INCLUSION IN THE ENERGY TRANSITION

Abstract

This article analyzes the strategic role of green financing, provided by the National Development System (SNF), in creating a new industrial matrix for the Brazilian Northeast, leveraged by its vast wealth in solar and wind energy. The objective is to demonstrate how this energy abundance can catalyze economically, socially, and environmentally sustainable development. The methodology analyzes the socioeconomic and geographic context of the Northeast, drawing a parallel with the development and expansion of agribusiness in the Center-West. This contextualizes the current moment, and the industrialization opportunities offered by the energy transition. The study discusses the crucial role of SNF in mobilizing long-term resources and attracting high-energy-consuming industries and green value chains. The results suggest that the Northeast is experiencing a moment analogous to that of the Center-West. By using energy as an attractive factor, and with strategic financing, the region can redefine its economic vocation, transforming its natural wealth into a driver of innovation and inclusion. It is concluded that the coordination between public policies, innovation, financing, and sectoral cooperation is essential to ensure that the energy transition is fair and efficient, positioning the Northeast as a green industrial hub and a leader in the economy of the future.
