O EXCEDENTE FINANCEIRO DO SETOR AGRÍCOLA BRASILEIRO: ESTIMATIVAS REGIONAIS PARA O PERÍODO 1990-1997¹

Abstract

This paper shows an study about the value and evolution of the Net and the Financial Surplus generated by the agricultural sector in the Brazilian macroregions from 1990 to 1997. Results reveal that in the period, on average, regions North, Northeast, Southeast, South and Center-West answered, respectively, by 19%, 30%, 30%, 20% and 1% of the Financial Surplus. In general, results also confirm the expectations that such surpluses, in relation to the Total Added Value of each region, are more important in the South and North region and less important in the Southeast one. It is still stressed the increase of the Center-West and fall of the North region relative importance along the analyzed period.
