Understanding the temporal dynamics of land use and the economy of territories is relevant for guiding more effective actions to improve sustainability and resilience. The study's objective was to investigate the recent dynamics of land use and economic conditions of 12 municipalities in Maranhão state along the Carajás Railroad logistic corridor. The methodology involved examining seven socio-environmental variables and qualitative analysis of MapBiomas (2022) mappings between 2010 and 2020. Results show that there have been relevant changes in land use. Our empirical model confirmed the concentration of agricultural activities using the Ellison-Glaeser index, which was correlated positively with sectoral inequality (measured by the Gini index). The result indicates that, in the municipalities studied, a higher concentration of agricultural activities and greater sectoral inequality are correlated positively. Therefore, policymakers, public and private executive agents, and other interested parties must prioritize interventions in municipalities with a higher agricultural concentration.
