Brazil is the second-largest global producer of ethanol, but it's still way behind the United States, which leads as the top producer, consumer, and exporter of the biofuel worldwide. The main market for Brazilian ethanol remains domestic; even with the environmental appeal, there's no strong expectation for global demand to grow significantly, and the global trend is leaning more toward investing in electric vehicles. In Brazil, the decarbonization policy (RenovaBio) is expected to help boost biofuel consumption in the long run. Looking ahead to the 2025/26 harvest, the outlook points to an increase in anhydrous ethanol production due to the rise in mandatory blending, while hydrated ethanol production is likely to drop since it's less profitable than sugar. Corn ethanol production in Brazil continues to grow at a fast pace and is expected to expand in the Northeast in the coming years, potentially impacting the regional biofuel market.
