This analysis provides insights into the production, international trade, and outlook of the global, Brazilian, and Northeastern textile industry for 2025 and 2026. Since July 2022, the sector has shown a trajectory of recession slowdown, with Ceará emerging from it in December 2022, Brazil in December 2023, and the Northeast in May 2024, considering the 12-month accumulated data. From these dates onward, the sector experienced economic growth; however, starting in March 2025, Ceará and the Northeast began to decelerate, ending October 2025 in recession (-2.1% and -2.8%, respectively). Brazil, on the other hand, continues to grow through the end of the period, reaching 10.1%. The high level of Brazil’s benchmark interest rate, combined with the sharp increase in U.S. import tariffs in 2025, negatively impacted textile production performance in Ceará and the Northeast. Projections indicate that Brazil’s textile industry output is expected to grow by 3.1% in 2025 and 1.2% in 2026.
